26 Oct 2017 6:15 p.m. |
The Department of History invites you to a series of movie screenings related to the course HIST2108 Empire and the Making of Modern France, taught by Dr. François Drémeaux.
On 26 October, the series will continue with a 1976 dark comedy directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud in his directorial debut. La Victoire en chantant (translated as Black & White in Color in its English version) depicts French colonists at war with the Germans in Central Africa during World War I. The movie adopts a strong antimilitaristic point of view, ridiculing the life of French colonists through a very realistic depiction of their everyday life.
Screening in French with English subtitles. All are welcome. No registration is required.
