Sahil Bhagat is an environmental and labour historian of South and Southeast Asia. His tentative thesis is a transregional study of rubber; tracing the spatial reproductions of race, gender and caste hierarchies on British Indian Ocean plantations, as well as, its human and multispecies resistances. Prior to arriving at HKU, Sahil was a Research Associate for the Hong Kong Research Hub at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, investigating environmental histories of water in post-war Hong Kong.
